Top Grossing Action Movies In 2010

Action fans might’ve noticed that 2010 was not the year for blockbuster hits in the genre, but after a 2009 debut of titles like Avatar and Star Trek, expectations might’ve well-unfair.
Salt
This action thriller film directed by Phillip Noyce star Angelina Jolie as Evelyn Salt, a woman accused of being a Russian sleeper agent. Jolie goes on the run in an attempt to clear her name. Debuting in July 2010, Salt brought in 118.3 million domestically.
The Other Guys
The Other Guys is an action comedy film featuring Will Ferrell and Mark Walhberg as the less-than-ideal crime-fighting duo. Great on laughs and action, it grossed 119.2 million domestically.
The Karate Kid
This 2010 remake featured Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith as the protg of an aging kung fu master. Though not as heralded as the original, The Karate Kid raked in 176.5 million domestically.
Inception
This sci-fi action riddle met with much buzz after it’s debut in 2010. Starring an ensemble cast starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Ken Watanabe and a few other notables, it raked in 292.5 million with a debut in June and tons of critical acclaim.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1
Though technically classified as Fantasy, anyone who’s ever seen a Harry Potter film can tell you that there’s plenty of action to go around. Possibly one of the most anticipated films of the year and of the franchise, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows raked in over 295 million dollars in this next-to-last feature.
Iron Man 2
This American superhero sequel had the distinction of topping the genre’s box office charts in 2010. The second of a trilogy, it starred Robert Downey, Jr. in a reprisal role as Tony Stark. Domestically, Iron Man 2 beat Harry Potter in 2010, while raking in 312.4 million.
