| Student
movie marathon draws the crowds again
Playboy bunnies, super heros and step brothers formed part of
the mix at the annual 5fm Movie Marathon this weekend. Student
Village, NuMetro and Powerplay were the other cornerstones of
the partnership that makes this such a sought after event each
year.
Students flocked to cinemas in Johannesburg, Cape Town, Pretoria
Durban and Port Elizabeth to watch five back-to-back new movies
premier during this year’s Movie Marathon.
“It’s a fun and innovative way to take the PowerPlay
brand to varsity students,” says Student Village CEO Ronen
Aires. “This is the fourth year we’ve been involved
in the Movie Marathon. Students register online at www.studentvillage.co.za
to secure their free tickets and then join us for an evening
packed with cool movies and great giveaways.”
The five movies headlining at the event this year included
“The House Bunny”, “Pineapple Express”,
“Superhero Movie”, “Step brothers”,
and “Bangkok Dangerous”. Students settled down to
watch the first film at 10pm on Saturday, with the last one
ending at around 8.30am in the morning.
“We’re always blown away by how many students go
the whole distance, staggering out sleepy and happy on the Sunday
morning,” says Aires. “It’s a solid indication
of how much students appreciate initiatives like this, and we’re
very happy to be in the position to keep this initiative thrilling
them year after year.
Established in 2001, Student Village is a South African leader
in youth marketing solutions for the 18 to 25 year student market,
with a canny strategic knack of expertly marrying the goals
of their clients to the targeted youth through meaningful and
professional engagements. The annual Movie Marathon is just
one of the reasons students keep on coming back to engage with
Student Village. Among the other varied offerings this dynamic
company takes into the youth market are Village Voice, a quarterly
newspaper for students, Village Mobile, its mobile platform,
GradX, the leading graduate recruitment publication on campus,
www.gradx.net, its graduate recruitment site, VillagePro, its
leadership and soft skills development platform, and the Women’s
Leadership Conference, geared towards identifying and growing
top young female talent at SA varsities.

GOOD
HOPE FM
When Sub urban and
Network BBDO Cape Town joined forces their aim was to highlight
how Good Hope FM connects the people of Cape Town. Cubism
was used in the Good Hope FM commercial to illustrate how
people from all ethnic, age and gender groups are united as
one by their choice of radio station Good Hope FM.
In his quest of creating work that will stand
out director Mukunda found his collaboration with Network
BBDO and the brand to be very fulfilling as they were willing
to try something different. And different is what was achieved
with Good Hope FM.
If one wants to push a project to another level,
the right team is essential, and so this team, including Mike
Schalit and Ivan Johnson were invaluable to the project As
Mukunda says, The team was at the top of their game and pushed
for nothing but the best. We're all very pleased with the
end product."

Our Angel Arrived
Well this is a little news about the birth of our brand new
baby girl - Tihana Mogg! She was born on September 6, 2008,
a birthday she shares with the dad, who passed away suddenly
on 22 July 2008. Words could not describe the loss of Tim or
the ecstasy of Tihana, a true bitter sweet time. On a happier
note Tihana is an absolute angel sent directly from God. She
is tremendously loved and welcomed by her big sister, Cleo,
and loads of friends and family. We may not always understand
it, but there is a greater plan which we will always find.
Please contact Samantha on 083 565

The future we choose
It's 2025, and another beautiful day in South Africa. The national
gloom of 2008 seems like the distant memory of a foreign land.
Since those dark days, the nation has pulled together and individual
South Africans have made sacrifices for the common good. Since
2012, skilled South Africans have been returning in large numbers
to the country, attracted back by the sustained economic growth
of 5%, decreased crime rates and new spirit of solidarity in
the nation. The Government's emergency inventions in education,
primary health and hospitals and early childhood developments
paid dividends and unemployment was reduced to 12% by 2019.
The age of a successful developmental state and of a dynamic
meritocracy is upon us.
