CHEVROLET "STREET PARTY"

Director Miles Goodall created yet another outstanding spot recently with Chevrolet “Street Party”.

The intention is to create a connection between people and lifestyles. One of the beauties of this spot is that it artfully targets South Africans of all races, ages and genders - quite a fresh approach. Miles used a blending of camera and subject movement to create a
seamless connection between shots thus connecting the characters to their cars and forming a natural yet detailed impression.

Throughout the commercial we get the feeling of a music video enviroment. The background track “Fast Lane” created by Stoan Seate of Bongo Maffin carries throughout each scene. Each piece of music is played through the device at the time- whether it is a boom box, car speakers, ipod earphones or a live performance.

At the beginning of the spot you can see a camera close- up of a hip young woman turning up the volume on a boom box- “let's get this party started!”

As the scene progresses we see the pool party liven up, two girls jamming in the back seat of a Chevrolet, and a man pull his car up, opens his boot and displays his speakers to groove to the music. Featured in this scene is also one of only 3 Camaro prototype Chevrolet’s in the world. Although it doesn’t have an engine it still looks good!

We also see a couple on a road trip, the woman feeling the rhythm and moving her hand to the beat.

Finally we see the street party, Stoan Seate of Bongo Maffin gets the crowd energized and people can be seen singing and dancing - their eyes wide open - excited to be celebrating Chevrolet.

Darkie, Rozanne & Pushkin and Ama Kip Kip, all proudly South African brands were happy to sponsor the DJ’s and kitted them out to create the Hip Hop style of the scene.

McCann Erickson SA represented by Vanessa Pearson (Executive Creative Director), Jacques Shalom (Copywriter), Michael Fleshel (Art Director), Jason Yankelowitz (Account Director), and Susan Tyler (Producer) were the catalysts behind this great production.

The 2010 World Cup's regional tourism hopes

Fancy world-class football in South Africa alongside a trip to the Victoria Falls or a Namib desert safari? This is possible, according to FIFA 2010 organisers and regional countries that want Africa's first ever World Cup to spill over into South Africa's neighbours.

"The idea is that this soccer World Cup taking place in South Africa will be an African cup because it's the first one in Africa," said FIFA spokesman Nicolas Maingot.

Local organisers have already contracted rooms in neighbouring countries in the hope of enticing some of the 450,000 fans expected to descend on South Africa for the tournament.

With several match stadiums within easy reach of southern Africa's multitude of pristine game reserves and untouched beaches, it is hoped that fans will add the area's tourism jewels to football itineraries.
