| The numerous beautiful rivers of South Africa offer a multitude of river rafting and canoeing options, not to mention of African neighbouring countries.
All in all South Africa have numerous qualified and experience commercial operators, some have established accommodation on site and offer other exciting activities. All operators listed below are members of the controlling body APA (African Paddling Association)
One could generally class the options into:
• Canoeing- In open canoes these trips are generally more scenic and gentle (grade 1) offering desert, mountains, greenery and even game viewing.
• Rafting- In inflatable two man and 8 man rafts, is rapids ranging from (grade 1 -3)
• White water rafting - Two man and 8 man rafts ranging (grade 1-5) more of the excitement and adrenalin.
The Western Cape has a winter rainfall (May/June- August/ September) making white water possible over these periods. The rest of the country has a moderate/summer rainfall making white water possible over this period (September/October- March/April)
